Welcome Our New Assistant Principal: Nancy Lopez-Hernandez
We are excited to introduce Nancy Lopez-Hernandez as the new Assistant Principal of Ernie Pyle and Baxter Elementary! With nearly 17 years of experience in education, Mrs. Lopez-Hernandez brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Mrs. Lopez-Hernandez's journey in education began in 2002 when she served as a Title 1/EL college aide. Having once been an English Learner (EL) student herself, she understands the challenges many of our students face. Her passion for teaching and learning has driven her to support students, staff, and families throughout her career. Most recently, she worked as an EL compliance coach for principals and served as an instructional and intervention coordinator at the secondary level.
Mrs. Lopez-Hernandez believes that education is about building relationships. She envisions a school culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging and care. Her goal is to connect with parents and encourage them to participate in school events, fostering a strong community spirit. For students, she aims to create genuine relationships based on trust and high expectations, ensuring every student feels valued and supported.
With the backing of her family, including educators from Jalisco, Mexico, Mrs. Lopez- Hernandez has always been determined to make a difference. Her personal and professional journey has equipped her with resilience and a strong support system, which she credits for her success.
Currently, Mrs. Lopez-Hernandez is pursuing her EdD at the University of Southern California, demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning and growth. She is excited to be at Pyle and Baxter, where she believes meaningful work can be accomplished.
