Principal's Message
We are excited to introduce Albert Baxter Elementary new Principal, Eddie Cruz, who brings a wealth of experience and a passionate vision to our school community. With a career spanning nearly 25 years in education, Principal Cruz is committed to fostering an environment where students thrive academically, socially, and physically.
Principal Cruz's journey in education began at a young age. At just six years old, he decided he wanted to be a teacher, inspired by the positive influence of his first-grade teacher. This early passion led him to earn a B.A. in English with a minor in History from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He later returned to his roots in Paramount, Calif., where he completed a Single Subject Teaching Credential Program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). In 2006, he furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on administration from CSULB.
His teaching career kicked off in August 2000 at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, California, where he taught Spanish and Religion. Over the years, Principal Cruz has served in various capacities across multiple school districts, including the San Gabriel Unified School District, Garden Grove Unified School District, and most recently, the Long Beach Unified School District. His roles have included classroom teacher, Department Head, Activities Director, Assistant Principal, and District Office High School Administrator.
Throughout his career, Principal Cruz has been driven by a desire to be an agent of change within the school community. In addition to his role as an educator, he currently serves as the Board President of the Paramount School Board.
As he steps into his role at Albert Baxter Elementary, Principal Cruz has laid out a clear vision centered on the "three As": academics, activities, and athletics.
We believe that under Principal Cruz's leadership, Albert Baxter Elementary will continue to be a place where students feel inspired, supported, and empowered to achieve their best. Please join us in welcoming him to our community!
